– Description : This show as taped on December 10, 1959, a rare rainy day in Palm Strings, California, hence the improvised sets and the cast ribbing Sinatra about his grand idea of filming in sunny Palm Springs. At the time Sinatra was dating guest Juliet Prowse, who was starring with him in the movie Can Can. The special guest star is Ella Fitzgerald and this program, remastered from the archive tape of the broadcast, is the original show in its entirety including the sponsors promotional segments. While the quality of reproduction may not meet modern technological standards, it is a rare record of two of the most popular performers of the Twentieth Century performing together.

I can tell you this… My house cleaners and gardener may only be doing “manual labor” but they show up early, work non-stop, do a better job than I could possibly ask for, do it with a smile and do it for about half of what a lazy American teenager would demand. Whine all you want about undocumented workers, if we actually stopped that, palm springs would dry up and blow away in about two weeks without them.
In an effort to set the record straight, one of the Ultraverse founding fathers pointed out that I had mixed-up my memories. The first Ultraverse conference (where the concepts for the universe were first discussed) happened in Scottsdale Arizona, not Palm Springs.
Scottsdale is an okay place, while I maintain that Palm Springs is a suburb of hell.
Something dawned on me last night around this issue. As a community we have to mindful of when we are being set up and manipulated.
If a church group goes to The Castro, then don't you think they are hoping to cause trouble so they can use it for propaganda purposes? We have to watch out for that sort of thing.
That woman in Palm Springs who was harassed by that angry mob; did she go there hoping that would happen to her?
I don't condone the mob mentaility that occurred in Palm Springs and The Castro. Our response to such things was very wrong. Such responses are never right. It's also far worse when someone sets us up and we fall for it.

Thanks for the information. I'm trying to convince my parents to buy their retirement home in Palm Springs, and get out of the cold winters in Canada. Patrick Stewart Properties have already located some great houses for them to see, some even in the La Quinta area. I know they will fall in love with Palm Springs and the surrounding areas once they get here.
